Dubai Culture, Dubai Club for People of Determination Organize Awareness Walk to Support the Visually Impaired
Dubai, UAE, 16 October 2025: Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), in collaboration with the Dubai Club for People of Determination, organized an awareness walk at Al Shindagha Historic Neighborhood to mark White Cane Safety Day, observed annually on 15 October. The initiative comes as part of Dubai Culture’s commitment to supporting and empowering People of Determination by helping them develop their skills and encouraging their participation in enriching the local cultural scene. It also reflects the Authority’s dedication to supporting Dubai Government’s strategies and the ‘My Community… A City for Everyone’ initiative, which aims to make the emirate a friendly city for People of Determination.
The awareness walk was part of a series of cultural and community events organized by the Club in partnership with the Authority to raise public awareness about the rights of the visually impaired and the importance of integrating them into society. It also aimed to highlight the need for accessible infrastructure and buildings to ensure inclusive mobility, while promoting the use of the white cane as a key tool that enables independence and self-reliance for the visually impaired.
Dubai Culture remains committed to adopting innovative solutions that equip its cultural and heritage assets with all necessary accessibility features for People of Determination. This reflects the Authority’s social responsibility to ensure that everyone can enjoy the diverse cultural experiences it offers to the community, in line with the National Policy for Empowering People of Determination and Dubai’s vision to enhance their quality of life.
Curating Culture
Dubai Culture & Arts Authority was launched on 8th March 2008 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The Authority enables and develops the cultural and creative sectors in the emirate as the custodian entity, based on its cultural responsibility towards Dubai and to help define it in both a local and global context.
Under the leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture, the Authority is committed to enriching the cultural scene of the emirate, firmly rooted in the heritage of the United Arab Emirates. It is working on building bridges of constructive dialogue between various civilizations and cultures to enhance Dubai’s position as a global center for art and culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent.
The Authority is also committed to reviving Dubai’s history and highlighting the image of its contemporary cultural fabric through a series of innovative cultural initiatives, events and projects, as well as the cultural, historical and heritage assets it sponsors. This includes the management of five of the city’s notable heritage monuments, six museums, and eight branches of Dubai Public Libraries.
