Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has started the preparations for the third edition of Hatta Cultural Nights 2023, aimed at strengthening the public’s connection with the Emirati heritage, exploring the treasures of Hatta, and delving into its historical, natural, and cultural aspects. This initiative aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to bring about comprehensive development in Hatta and enrich its cultural and artistic scene.

The festival of Hatta Cultural Nights 2023 will take place in the Hatta Heritage Village from 22 December 2023 to 1 January 2024, featuring a rich agenda of heritage events, artistic performances, and entertainment activities that highlight the culture, customs, and traditions of the Hatta region. The local community will have the opportunity to learn about the history of Hatta and its diverse tourist attractions. Visitors can enjoy poetry evenings with participation from Hatta’s poets, featuring captivating traditional dance and music, live heritage performances, and local talent competitions that showcase the rich cultural tapestry of Hatta.

Dubai Culture has dedicated a corner for a traditional market showcasing the creativity of local productive families, reflecting their uniqueness and commitment to local heritage. The market will also include a wide range of products innovated by creative talent, aiming to empower and stimulate them to showcase their work to all community members. This contributes to supporting the strength of Dubai’s cultural and creative industries.

Hatta Cultural Nights will host a series of interactive workshops highlighting Arabic calligraphy and traditional handicrafts such as Al Talli, burqa sewing, knitting, and Al Khoos weaving. The festival will also feature a traditional cooking competition for Hatta residents, henna art, a traditional corner, and a dedicated area for Emirati folk games. These activities aim to enrich the experiences of children, educate them, and introduce future generations to the richness and diversity of local heritage.

Mariam Al Tamimi, Acting Director of the Heritage Sites Department at Dubai Culture, affirmed the importance of Hatta Cultural Nights and its role in showcasing the richness of the Hatta region, with its deep history, stunning nature, and heritage, stating: “Through this initiative, Dubai Culture seeks to empower the people of the Hatta region and encourage creativity. This reflects the Authority’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the area, introducing its unique capabilities and diverse cultural experiences. These efforts are crucial in bolstering national identity, preserving local customs, elevating public consciousness, all of which fall under our cultural responsibility of safeguarding tangible and intangible cultural heritage, which forms part of our sectoral priorities within our strategic roadmap.”
