Dubai, UAE, 25 August 2025: Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) invites the community to ‘The Creative Shelf,’ a three-day program at Al Safa Art & Design Library, running from 22 to 24 August. The event celebrates local talent, giving participants the opportunity to refine their skills and share perspectives in an inspiring environment. It also offers audiences a rich journey of discovery, encouraging exploration of Dubai’s dynamic arts scene and reinforcing the Authority’s role in positioning the city as a global cultural hub.

Organized under the umbrella of the School of Life initiative, which forms part of Dubai’s Quality of Life Strategy, the program features workshops in resin art, origami, Arabic calligraphy, digital drawing and character design, bookmark design, voice acting, and bookmaking. Attendees can also take part in a range of activities such as a postcard and free drawing wall, a video games corner, a manga and comic book exhibition, and a dedicated photo booth.

Over three days, Al Safa Art & Design Library will host a line-up of engaging talks and discussions. The schedule includes ‘Corniche,’ a book conversation with Nasser Nasrallah; ‘Narrative Interactive Storytelling’ with Abdulrahman Zubair Al Obeidli; ‘The Art of Building Worlds’ with Byron Jeff Datinguinoo; ‘The Value of the Art Book’ with Ola Allouz; ‘Ask the Publisher’ with Ghaf Publishing; and ‘Creativity as a Tool of Impact’ with Khawla Mohammed Darwish.

Through ‘The Creative Shelf,’ Dubai Culture creates a platform for knowledge exchange and dialogue, encouraging both emerging and established talent while deepening community engagement in the arts. The initiative reflects the Authority’s commitment to advancing the cultural and creative industries and enriching Dubai’s broader artistic ecosystem.

Curating Culture

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority was launched on 8th March 2008 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The Authority enables and develops the cultural and creative sectors in the emirate as the custodian entity, based on its cultural responsibility towards Dubai and to help define it in both a local and global context.

Under the leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture, the Authority is committed to enriching the cultural scene of the emirate, firmly rooted in the heritage of the United Arab Emirates. It is working on building bridges of constructive dialogue between various civilizations and cultures to enhance Dubai’s position as a global center for art and culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent.

The Authority is also committed to reviving Dubai’s history and highlighting the image of its contemporary cultural fabric through a series of innovative cultural initiatives, events and projects, as well as the cultural, historical and heritage assets it sponsors. This includes the management of five of the city’s notable heritage monuments, six museums, and eight branches of Dubai Public Libraries.
