Dubai Culture and The Workshop Dxb Introduce Screenprinting Training Program

10-day intensive course invites UAE-based creatives to master new techniques

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 26 August 2025: Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), in collaboration with The Workshop Dxb, has announced the launch of ‘Screenprinting Unlocked,’ an initiative designed to help artists expand their skills, experiment with new disciplines, and strengthen their presence within the art community. The program advances the Authority’s mission to position the city as a global center for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent.

Led by artist and curator Ahmad Makary, the experience will bring together 10 selected participants—Emiratis and UAE residents—for interactive workshops, practical sessions, and group showcases. Running from 22 September – 3 October 2025, activities will take place in Al Shindagha Historical Neighborhood and The Workshop Dxb in Al Quoz. The curriculum covers everything from screenprinting tools and image preparation to printmaking techniques, composition, and color blending. By the end, attendees will hone their craft, explore new concepts, and elevate the quality of their work.

Applications are open to all Emirati and UAE-based artists, designers, and creative practitioners. Supported by the Sikka Platform, the course welcomes both emerging and established talent. Interested applicants should submit the online form (in English), and a portfolio of completed work, by 5 September 2025. A selection committee will review all submissions and choose the final cohort.

Shaima Rashed Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Arts, Design & Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, underscored the Authority’s commitment to advancing the sector through various initiatives. She noted that ‘Screenprinting Unlocked’ embodies Dubai Culture’s focus on empowering creatives and enabling them to play an active role in the city’s vibrant arts scene. She added: “This program offers an inspiring platform for development, encouraging participants to develop their skills in producing innovative Screenprinted artworks, roll out new projects, and further their careers in this medium. It also plays a part in strengthening our cultural and creative industries.”
